Taken from the Tome of Ascension.....

Catching Lord Malichor was as tricky as he is, yet still did I catch him and hear his tale.....

Malichor looked down at Lauralanthalana and asked "What would you like to know?"  She pulled out clean parchment and a quill, "How didst thou become a Hero, M'Lord?"

"Why is the sky orange?" asked Dallan with a giggle.  Laura grinned at him, and Malichor gave him a good T-H-W-A-P !  "I'm not talkin to you," he said, to which Dallan replied, "Why is the grass purple?"  Dallan and Laura both giggled at that.  "Well," began Malichor, "I was a priest of fate, and I heard a challenge set forth by Tazman to find a ring of his.  At that time, I had done almost all of the quests."  Malichor moved his mask of comedy to his right hand, and fiddled with it.  He swapped his Golden half of a mask and his iron half of a mask and fiddled with it again.  "So I leapt upon the opportunity for adventure, as is my wont.  I searched high and low, quickly scouring HUGE areas of land.  I had a technique using teleport to get to different areas, and at last I found the ring.  Little did I know that there were about 20 or so rings out there, and all but the one I found were joy buzzers. They killed most of the people who donned them."  Laura thought about it for a moment, "I suppose they would..."  She grinned as he began to speak again.  "I,  knowing the ring was not mine, did not put it on, and rushed to Tazman, offering it to him.  His eyes got an odd look in them.  He told me I had honored him, and that the ring was mine to keep as a show of greatfulness from him.  When I donned the ring, it killed me, and I was immediatly ascended into heroship, under Tazman.  He TRICKED me into doing it.  I had always wanted to be a hero of Fate." He lowered his eyes sadly. "But now..... I was changed slowly.  Every day.  My manners and personality were warped, and now I fear I'm quite mad."  Malichor AWKed like a crazy pelican!  "Or perhaps... I'm sane and everyone else is mad.  I dont know," he sighed.  Laura patted him on the back comfortingly.  "Now," he went on, "I am quite... tricky.  I am happy now, happier than I have ever been.  I have scores of loyal temple members, but i remember the days of fate.  Would you like to know anything else, Laura?"  She smiled up at him, "Wouldst honor this tale with a riddle, perchance, M'Lord?"  Malichor smiled, "Yes."  He winced with pain, "and there will be no penalties for a wrong answer.  Usually death follows a bad answer."  Laura nodded, understanding.  "I will nae put the answer in the tale, M'Lord.. they must see if they can answer it.."  Malichor cleared his throat and started to get prepared for action.

When people come for me to meet

They come to me with leaden feet

And in my embrace,

When I get my chance

They always swing and dance
